I love making stuff that matters — purpose-driven products, services and organizations. I believe that the greatest innovation and impact comes when problem seeking is emphasized before problem solving — asking better questions leads to better outcomes. I am drawn to challenges that require a curious mind and benefit from a diversity of professional and life experiences

I have spent decades conceiving and creating technical innovations in various industries. Each endeavor, through success and failure, taught me that the road to remarkable starts with a compelling why. I bring a thoughtfulintentional and essential nature to everything I do in the pursuit to improve the world around us.

Professional Endeavors

2015 - 2018

Creative Director / Head of Design

As a founding team member at CiBO Technologies, I created several product concepts to showcase CiBO’s science-based agricultural simulation and modeling software since 2015, most notably a Sustainability Index and a Cost-Benefit Analysis for Climate-Smart Agriculture. In early 2017, I assumed the role as Creative Director / Head of Design to spearhead the structure and formation of a design team and foster a design thinking culture.

2012 - 2017

Youth Mentoring Board Member / Chairperson

I’ve been involved with Mentor Me since 2012, first as a Mentor and then as a Board Member. As Board President from 2016 to 2017, I sparked a transformation to add business rigor to the operation and institute an evidence-based approach to evaluating program effectiveness.

2013 - 2018

Founder / GM / Winemaker

In 2013, I brought the concept of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) to the wine business. Glasshaus Wines allowed members to purchase discounted shares of future production and given an insiders-view into wine growing and winemaking. As Founder / GM / Winemaker, I developed and executed the production, design, marketing, sales and operational strategy. Members Drink Well (90+ Wine Enthusiast), While Doing Good (a portion of their sale went to aid at-risk youth)

2013 - 2015

Director Operations

As a member of the founding team, I helped launch Comstock Wines, a new winery in Sonoma County, in 2013. Until leaving to help start CiBO Technologies in 2015, I assumed responsibility for all aspects of operations from the tactical (budgeting, licensing, compliance, SOPs) to the strategic (information technology, web/brand design, planning, sourcing). I developed a new Custom Crush program to provide an additional revenue source to capitalize excess winery capacity.

2010 - 2012

Director of Sales / Operations

My adventures in the wine business began during the 2010 harvest season in Bordeaux, France at Crushpad Bordeaux. As an Intern, I leveraged my IT background to streamline operations while participating in all aspects of winemaking, from land to label. I even learned a little French along the way.

Upon returning to the U.S. in early 2011, I accepted the position to lead Sales at Crushpad Sonoma with responsibility for the roughly $3MM Direct-to-Consumer custom wine business. In 2012, I became Director of Operations to lead winemaking staff, ensure accurate reporting for compliance & client communication, formalize standard procedures, and manage vineyard sourcing, labor forecasting & production budgeting. I redesigned the Custom Crush model to be transparent, comprehensive and competitive and initiated the restructuring of Commerce Services to be cost-effective and provide predictable cash-flow.

At the end of 2012, I was asked to shift my allegiance back to Bordeaux and direct it’s operations. So, in 2013, remotely from Petaluma California, I provided custom winemaking support and leadership in the areas of Information Technology, Sales, Marketing Communications, Client Relations, US Logistics and Winemaking Operations. I also implemented new processes and systems for Winemaking & Winegrowing tracking, Client Relationship Management (CRM), Sales, and Marketing. Possibly the most pleasurable part of the job was guiding clients through the winemaking process to ensure the achievement of their targeted wine style.

2006 - 2010

Founder / Product Designer / Software Architect

In 2006, I founded Kayanta.com, a ‘digital concierge’ to find and connect people with their interests and activities. The Adobe Flex UI emulated our Search-Preview-Plan mental model.  The Java-based Services combined data from a myriad Programmable Web APIs and shared a personalized collection of events using web calendar protocols.

From 2009 to 2010, I also designed and developed SOAP Web-Services APIs for F5 Networks’  storage visualization device.

2003 - 2006

Product Designer / Software Architect

I led strategic technical initiatives for product and business development of continuous data protection solutions at Revivio from 2003 until being acquired by Symantec in 2006. I created prototypes to automate application-level recovery and demonstrate solutions on new platforms.

2000 - 2002

Designer / Developer / Technologist

In 2000, I joined Applied Minds to lead the technical and business development of innovations in Video Conferencing. I created product requirements and development plans pivotal to business planning efforts and presented proposals to foster industry and equity partnerships.

1997 - 2000

Startup Development Team / VP Engineering

I joined TeraGlobal in 1997 to define the product architecture and build and lead product development of a videoconferencing, distance learning platform. I set organizational strategy to maximize resources while producing deliverables to achieve revenue goals and secure financing.

1990 - 1997

Software Engineer

From 1990 to 1997, I  developed  network operating systems, highly available multiprocessing and data storage software products at startups to public companies, most notably, Banyan Systems, IBM & Availant.
